Butler REC Installs EV Charging Station at Local High School

In August, Butler Rural Electric Cooperative installed an electric vehicle (EV) charger in Talawanda High School’s parking lot. The charger will be used by students, teachers, and staff as well as the public. We installed the charger to learn about vehicle charging and provide publicly available charging infrastructure in our area.

Butler Rural Electric Cooperative provided the charger with no construction cost to the Talawanda School District or to cooperative members.

Butler Rural Electric Cooperative used funds from the Co-op Electric Vehicle Charger Program to purchase the Level 2 charger from ChargePoint. The Co-op Electric Vehicle Charger Program provides funding for the purchase of one Level 2 ChargePoint charger per year to be installed at a site served by an Ohio electric cooperative. The cooperative received funds from the Site and Community Assistance Program to pay for the installation of the charger.
