Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative (BREC) celebrated the launch of its new live line safety trailer with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 28. The trailer will be used to demonstrate how electricity works, the dangers it can pose, and safety practices that can save lives. These demonstrations will reach schools, community groups, and members throughout southeastern Ohio.
“Our crews are committed to safety every single day in the field, and this trailer allows us to extend that same commitment directly to the people we serve,” said Melanie Lawrence, BREC Chief Executive Officer. She credited BREC’s Safety and Loss Coordinator, Danny Krum, whose hard work and dedication brought the project to life.
Board President Bill Holcomb emphasized the broader impact: “Safety isn’t just about keeping the lights on—it’s about protecting our families, our neighbors, and our communities. This trailer will help us spread that message far and wide.”
The milestone also received recognition from elected leaders. U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno extended his congratulations, with Southeast Regional Director Juli Stephens attending on his behalf. Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens, District 93, commended BREC with official certificates mailed in support of the achievement.
