A total of 15 Ohio lineworkers have completed OEC’s ELDT program and now possess their CDLs! That’s great news and it now appears to be slowing down a little bit. Please be aware that there have been issues for two cooperatives with the free theory course that the state of Ohio offers, and we had to do a workaround in order to get the students proper credit. So, please be aware of this before signing your driver up for the free Ohio theory course. We have had no problems with other online theory training programs, such as CDL Direct.
The state of Ohio made several changes in October 2023 that have improved the CDL process:
- CDL Online Renewal: No more waiting in line.
- CDL Testing Modernization: Revisions include changes in airbrakes, pre-trip inspection, and maneuverability testing. Changes can be found in Ohio’s new CDL manual.
- Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) extended from six months to 12 months before expiration.
