Buckeye REC Honors the Life of Roy Sprague

Roy Sprague, Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees Member, passed away March 18, 2022. Sprague was elected to the Buckeye Rural Board in 1990, representing District II, Gallia County. He served as board secretary since 2011. 

“Roy was a dedicated Buckeye Rural member and board member,” said general manager Tonda Meadows. “His contributions to the Cooperative will be greatly missed.” 

In addition to serving on the Buckeye Rural Board of Trustees, Sprague taught at Washington Elementary, Gallipolis, for 30 years. After his retirement, he went on to work with multiple School-To-Work programs in the area. 

Sprague continued to contribute to the cooperative until his passing and will always be remembered for his dedication to helping the members as well as the communities that he served. His positive outlook and devotion will not be forgotten as he impacted many lives throughout his time spent as an educator, as well as his time on the board. He will be greatly missed. Heartfelt condolences are extended to his family and friends.
