Scholarship Purpose & Requirements
Purpose: Encourage children of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives’ members to further their education.
Finalist Qualifications:
- Each cooperative selects one finalist for the statewide competition
- Finalists must be children or legal wards of Ohio’s Electric Cooperative residential members
- Finalists cannot be immediate family members of, or reside with, employees or trustees of any Ohio Electric Cooperative or affiliated organizations.
- Must be graduating high school seniors with all necessary credits for college
- Must have a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale
- Full ride scholarship recipients are not eligible (tuition, room, board and books)
Finalist Requirements: PLEASE READ BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORM BELOW
- Finalists must:
- Complete the statewide application
- Upload current transcript
- Upload one 500-word (maximum) recommendation letter from a teacher on school stationery
- Upload current resume includes school activities, personal achievements, community, and volunteer activities
- Must attend an in-person interview on April 7, 2026
- Interview will take place at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives located at 6677 Busch Blvd. Columbus, OH 43229
- Proof of enrollment; official course schedule or program transcript
*Winners will be required to provide after notification of being named a recipient*
Additional Guidance:
- All materials are due by March 13, 2026
- All materials must be submitted via the online form via the OEC website
- Scholarships must be claimed within six months of winning. Extensions may be granted for just cause if requested in writing before June 1, 2026
- If winners cannot fulfill their enrollment obligation, the awards are forfeited
- Judging is based on scholastic records, interview, personal achievement and cooperative knowledge
- No outside materials are allowed during the interview (ex. electronic presentations, props, handouts, etc.)
- Cooperative knowledge questions are based on the Online Orientation course https://ohioec.org/orientation which takes about 30 minutes to complete.
- Completion of this course is recommended
- Accepted applications will receive a confirmation email from oecyouth@ohioec.org
- Scholarship recipients will receive notification of selection after judging and by April 13, 2026
