PURPOSES
- To familiarize young adults with the cooperative culture and principles and foster career opportunities available in the rural electric industry
- To inspire young adults to pursue rural electric industry careers and values, Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives, Inc. is offering this Cooperative Intern Scholarship on an annual basis
SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $1,000 cash scholarships will be awarded.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following provisions govern the acceptance of applicants for this scholarship:
- Applicants must have a solid academic record and be enrolled in a technical or four-year school of student’s choice when the application is made
- Applicants must have a temporary employment relationship with an electric cooperative related to the academic field of study at the college, technical, or high school in which they are currently enrolled.
- Applicants who reside in the households of trustees, distribution cooperative employees, and OEC-affiliated employees are eligible to participate in the competition.
- Interns at OEC facilities (6677 Busch, Cardinal, Greenville, and Mone) may apply.
- Job duties or assignments should support/enhance skills for such a field of study.
- Prior winners cannot reapply.
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from the CEO or direct supervisor detailing the applicant’s job duties, character, performance, and accomplishments.
- The deadline to submit scholarship applications to OEC is August 31.
The only attachments permitted are the students’ transcript and a supervisor’s letter of recommendation.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
The Youth Committee will make awards based on a synopsis of the applicant’s work-related project at the cooperative and the applicant’s GPA.
