With the help of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives and local distribution co-ops, the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library/Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (OGIL/DPIL) program continues to expand across rural Ohio.
OGIL/DPIL seeks to provide every child in Ohio from birth to age five a new book each month. Research has shown that a child with 25 books in their home completes an average of two additional years of schooling compared to their peers without books in their home.
The following number of children are enrolled in co-op-sponsored county programs:
- Allen County: 1,040 (Midwest Electric and Mid-Ohio Energy)
- Highland County: 1,007 (Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives)
- Mercer County: 1,054 (Midwest Electric)
- Van Wert County: 84 (Midwest Electric and Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative)
Seneca County is the newest county added to the program, sponsored by North Central Electric Cooperative.
