The Logan County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) board of trustees has named Joe Waltz as its next president/general manager.
Waltz comes to LCEC with a strong cooperative background. He has more than two decades of experience in the electric power business and has held many leadership and senior positions, having started his career as a meter reader with Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) in Manassas, Va., in 1988. While at NOVEC, Waltz was promoted to positions that oversaw the construction of substations and the maintenance of SCADA systems, transmission switching stations, and communications services. In 1999, Waltz was named operations supervisor. He concluded his 15 years at NOVEC as the director of fiber optic development.
In 2003, Waltz joined Glades Electric Cooperative in Moore Haven, Fla., as the manager of engineering services. In 2005, he was hired to lead and manage a municipal electric utility in Front Royal, Va. He was promoted to serve as the director of public utilities from 2006 to 2008, the director of energy services from 2008 to 2016, and town manager from 2016 to 2019.
Waltz will begin his tenure with Logan County Electric Cooperative on December 2.
