Mike Sims, CEO of Butler Rural Electric Cooperative, was honored with the Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives Distinguished Service Award during the NRECA Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

Sims was part of the original steering committee that first explored the concept of a national advertising campaign and later created the brand. He is a leader with an innate understanding of the power of member service and Touchstone Energy’s core values of integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to communities.

Sims served on the Touchstone Energy Board of Directors from 2005-2010 and as chair his last three years.

In nominating Sims for this award, Ohio electric cooperative leaders cited his operational achievements, including strong American Customer Satisfaction Index scores and a successful Operation Roundup program. They highlighted his strong leadership on various boards, his generous volunteerism within the local community and his willingness to be involved in the issues and causes that matter most to his members.
