Sixteen Ohio co-ops brought members, employees, and guests to Cardinal Station, the primary source of power for Ohio’s cooperatives and one of the cleanest coal-fired power plants in the world.

Ohio co-op members, employees, and guests got an in-depth look at Cardinal Station, Buckeye Power’s primary base-load generation asset, at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives’ annual plant tours on Sept. 28-29.

A total of 482 guests representing 16 cooperatives toured Unit 3 of Cardinal Station, according to Paul Jackson, power generation asset manager at Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives.

Visitors received an up-close look at what goes into generating the electricity they depend on every day, including the environmental controls that have helped Cardinal to be one of the cleanest generating plants of its kind.
